Q: Agrolawn serviced my lawn today and it rained shortly after the application, What can I expect?
Agrolawn applies both granular and liquid materials during an application. The granular part can only benefit from the rain because it is getting watered in. The liquid part is usually weed controls or fungicides and they need time to dry before watering. Sometimes they dry quickly and sometimes they take awhile. We asked that the customer give it a chance to see if it has worked. The customer can tell within 4-7 days if it is working because the weeds will begin a wilting process. There are many companies that provide lawn care services. We are confident that you will be pleased with the high level of service and quality that Ferta-Lawn provides. Our knowledgeable employees have years of experience in lawn care and most are pursuing or have completed college degrees in ornamental horticulture.

What is the best spray for clover in the lawn?
Common lawn sprays such as Weed B-Gone and 2,4-D are not very effective in controlling Clover. A special Weed B-Gone for chickweed, clover and oxalis is more effective than 2,4-D or regular Weed B-Gone. A lawn weed killer containing Banvel or dicamba would work good but be careful when using this material in an area with tree & shrub roots. You should water deeply and infrequently. The goal for most lawns is 1" per week, and it is best if that is delivered "all at once" instead of over several days. Mulch in most cases. Mulching returns nutrients to the lawn, as well as organic matter. It also helps to retain water.

Can a lawn be seeded and fertilized at the same time?
Yes, but only if the level of fertilizer application is very low. If a normal application of fertilizer is applied it will tend to damage the germinating grass seeds. It's usually best to fertilize, water well and then seed at a later date. Its a layer of stems and the crowns of dead grass just above the soil. While clippings decompose quickly, thatch decomposes slowly. When it builds up, it creates a problem. Either use a de-thatching machine or a core-aerating machine to fix the problem.Horsetail control is difficult.

Is there any way to get rid of the undesirable grasses in the lawn?
That is a very difficult situation. There are no herbicides which will control the undesirable grasses such as quackgrass without killing the lawn grass. If these grasses have taken over complete areas of your lawn, they can be killed by spraying with Roundup.Water your garden in the evening after 5PM as this will minimize water loss via evaporation while maximizing the available water to your plant material.Agrolawn applies both granular and liquid materials during an application.

Why is my lawn so green?
A nice green lawn is what makes us happy. We fertilize consistently, (included in the price of all our services), which keeps the lawns green through every season. In fact, we fertilize extra in the winter to keep your lawn from going dormant. Usually, we have the best looking lawns on the block and most of the neighbors say, "Hey, why is your lawn so green?" We don't mind if you take the credit.

Is it necessary to water the lawn?
The grasses grown in our area are cool season grasses which green up early in the spring and stay green until late fall. During the hot summer months they may go dormant until the temperatures cool and the amount of moisture increases.
