Buried in our collective conscience is at least one Disney movie we recall from our childhood. The film centers of the harrowing and lighthearted adventures of Simba, the young prince of the pridelands. Other characters involved in the movie are his father Mufasa, a monkey named Rafiki and his sidekicks Timon and Pumba. The movie has several moments of high comedy, culminating in moments of moving drama. The story begins with the birth of the prince of the Pride Land, Simba. His father, Mufasa, is the king of the land. Mufasa's brother, Scar, is jealous of Simba and plots to eliminate him so that he is next in line to the throne. Scar tries to have him killed by his associates, the hyenas.
In a terrible moment, Scar kills his brother, the king, Mufasa. This leaves Simba as the rightful heir. But since he very young, he fears that Scar will attempt to kill him as well. He flees the country and is met by a meerkat named Timon and a warthog named Pumba. His friends help boost his morale and he eventually goes back to the Pride Land to reclaim his rightful place on the throne. The movie culminates in a dramatic battle between Simba and Scar. He then rekindles his previous love with Nala and they have a cub of their own.
To this day, the Lion King is considered a modern Disney classic. A new generation has grown to love its characters. It has remained one of the best selling DVDs in the Disney Vault.
