Know what it is that you know, and, even more important, know what it is that you don't.
Knowing what you know can make you excel, and become great, at whatever you want to do. The other side to this equation is knowing what you don't know, and this can give you the extra tools you need to create that slight "edge" that will get you even better results, and make you much more effective as a person and an online business owner.
So, what exactly is "knowing what you know, and knowing what you don't know"?
They are precisely that.
When you know what you are good at, what your talents are, and where your strengths lay, you have a list of things that you can do, and do effectively. You know what tasks you are best suited for, and, most importantly, those that you can do yourself and not pay someone else to do.
That brings us to knowing what you don't know.
When you set out to accomplish your goal, and begin learning just how things work, there are always a couple of things you must do that you realize you are not so good at.
This right here is knowing what you do not know.
These tasks are the ones that get you stuck and keep you from progressing forward. Acknowledging that these aren't your strong points will make you much more effective in the long run, and a lot more happy.
If you have know what it is that you aren't so good at, and it is not a thing you must do on your own, give it to someone else! You'll be better off working on those things that you are good at instead of wasting time trying to figure out how to do something.
This can be a hard thing to do for some entrepreneurs, especially online entrepreneurs.
We get so caught up in doing everything ourselves, that soon we don't have any energy for the business.
We take care of that which we know, we try to perfect that which we don't know, and pretty soon, the business is the second most important thing because we haven't quite mastered graphic design!
Trying to know everything is nuts and, even if you're already good at these things, you can probably pay someone to do them a lot better, at a cost much less taxing to your business. (Your time is money!)
Of course, when you're just starting off, you probably won't have the money to hire all of the people you need, but you should still be aware of your strengths and abuse the heck out of them. Know what your weak points are and learn what it is you HAVE to learn.
Make some money, then give some of that to someone else to do it, so you can make A LOT of money.
That will be the reason you spend a weekend in Maui on the beach, or the weekend in front of your computer passed out from exhaustion, with a little extra money in the bank. The cost of a trip to Maui and some help, to be exact.
