Getting Through The Holidays After A Breakup

By Rachel Davis

If you're going through a breakup, the holidays are probably looking pretty bleak right now. You might even be tempted to crawl into bed and stay there until after New Years. I don't blame you. After all, who wants to explain to Uncle Fred and Aunt Bertie why you came to Christmas dinner all by yourself?

Right now, there's probably just one thing on your mind... getting your ex back. If that's the case, keep reading. Here are some tips to help you get through the holidays and back on your feet again.

The first thing to do is watch your attitude. Don't spend your days feeling sorry for yourself. Sure, you feel sad and lonely. But by focusing on things that you can control, you'll come out of this a stronger and happier person.

It's time to take your focus off the breakup and start focusing on yourself for a change. Instead of thinking about what your ex is doing right now, think about what some of your old friends might be doing. Call them up. Reconnect. Go out and have some fun! Just remember, that means no talk about the breakup or your ex. You'll be surprised at how good it feels.

Is it time for a new hairstyle or a wardrobe update? This is a great time to find out what you really like. Grab a friend and have fun trying out new styles.

Think about something you've always wanted to do, and then decide to take action. This could be traveling to Spain, learning how to golf, or taking up photography. Whatever it is, sit down and create a plan.

Take that first small step. Pick up a travel brochure to your dream destination, or buy a course to learn the language. Check out a book at the library on the subject. If you need lessons, get yourself signed up.

These are the type of things that will help bring that sparkle back into your eyes. They'll make you feel stronger and stand a little taller. By shifting your focus away from your ex and your relationship, you'll discover that you really are going to be all right. And you never know... your Christmas wish just might come true after all!

So stop feeling sorry for yourself. Focus on something positive - something that's important to you that gets you excited. You'll be happier, which will make you more attractive... to your ex and everyone else. - 15431
