Top Ten Reasons Newbie Marketeers Succeed

By Lillian Latham

The top ten reasons people succeed in any endeavour has more to do with attitude that any particular method. The character traits needed have been described by Dr. Phil whoes blend of common sense and wisdom was introduced to the world by Oprah some years ago. She has said that the most important factor in winning that lawsuit was his advice and guidance on the correct attitude towards it. On DrPhil.com you will find more of his wisdom.

Through years of study and observation Dr. Phil has found that successful people share in a common mindset. These are the qualities you must cultivate if you want to be successful.

1. Successful marketers have vision. You first have to know what you want to do. This goal will keep you motivated and on track. You have to see it, feel it and experience it in your mind Then get it down on paper. It may be trite but it is true that those who fail to plan are actually planning to fail.

2. Successful marketers have a strategy for obtaining their goal. People who consistently win have a clear and thoughtful strategy. They know what they need to do and when they need to do it. They write it down so they stay on course, and avoid any alternative that does not get them closer to the finish line.

3. Investment. You need to live and breathe what it is you want, and be passionately invested in both the journey and the goal. Passion makes getting up in the morning easy, passion makes turning off the tv and sitting down and accomplishing another step towards your goal a snap. Without passion you might as well watch tv!

4. Successful marketers see the truth. People who consistently win have no room in their lives for denial, fantasy or fiction. They are self-critical rather than self deluding, and they hold themselves to high but realistic standards. They deal with the truth, since they recognize that nothing else will make their vision obtainable.

5. Flexible - Flexibility is important for success. The successful marketer realizes that he has a lot to learn and learns to enjoy the journey. They are open to new ideas and are willing to take chances and to be wrong. They recognize that mistakes are a natural part of the learning curve.

6. Successful marketers are willing to take risks. They are willing to get out of their comfort zone. The new and unchartered route is an adventure. The safe and familiar is boring. You need to consider the new and uncomfortable a challenge and one you are prepared to take on.

7. Have a Team. Success breads success and positive people encourage it. Only have people in your life that have the same positive goals that you do. These people will want you to succeed and will encourage you towards your goal We all need a cheering section, make sure yours is filled people will move with you toward your goal and encourage you when you get downhearted. Try to find people who have skills, talents and abilities that you do not and you will have a mutual support group.

8. Take Action. Just Do it! Remember the story of the tortoise and the hare - the tortoise won the race because he kept his eye on the goal and put one step in front of the other. Russell Brunson of Dot Com Secrets fame has a motto READY, FIRE, AIM. To many good ideas die because the people who had them are still perfecting them.

9. People who are consistent winners manage their challenges. They recognize what is priority number one and spend time on it. There is no point in spending time on priority 2 and 3, if priority number 1 is still waiting to be done.

10. Take Care of Yourself - Your mental, physical and emotional and spiritual health is your most important resource because that is what makes everything else possible. Successful marketers realize this and manage their lives so everything is possible.

The right mindset will lead to success in any area you choose, ignoring these crucial factors for success will lead to failure. - 15431
