HDTV

By Jimmy Johnson

Is your TV still a domed screen huge square box? Then it's time you started considering an upgrade. With the price of TV's coming down considerably and many bargains ready for you to choose from your greatest problem is likely to be which model should you go for. So when you look at the information on the sets you may be interested in you will see many are labeled HDTV ready. So do you know about HDTV? Do you need it? And what does it means for TV quality?

HDTV is a development in technology that allows higher resolution signals to be broadcast than has been possible until recently. HDTV will send digital signals which means greater clarity and quality of picture. TV broadcasting is produced in a high definition format and now it is possible for HDTV models to receive those programs as they were really intended to be. It's like seeing a movie but with a viewing ratio of 16:9. In layman's terms that is a screen of 16 units wide and nine units high and the resolution of 1920 x 1080. That really is high definition.

It was genuinely the next best thing to being in Beijing. From the opening ceremony with its torch-bearer running in 'slo-mo' around the whole stadium to the underwater tumble turns of Micheal Phelps, every screening was a joy. It was a whole screen experience too. Without those nuisance black bars top and bottom of the screen.

Due to the greater amount of bandwidth, the colors on an HDTV set will look more realistic. An HDTV set is 2 to 5 times more detailed visually than normal television sets. You'll barely be able to see the scanning lines, if you can see them at all. This increase in clarity and detail makes high definition television more pleasing to watch. What would this kind of television viewing be without surround sound? Most broadcasters broadcast in HDTV with surround sound.

When you are out there picking up your new HDTV, why not purchase a new surround sound package, as well? You will love your new set and all your friends will want to watch the game at your house. What are you waiting for? Get your new HDTV and begin your all new viewing experience. - 15431
